Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai Actress Shubhangi Atre Boycotts TikTok: 'Request Other TV Actors Also To Do The Same'- EXCLUSIVE
TV actress Shubhangi Atre, who essays the character of Angoori on TV show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, has finally deleted her TikTok account. Many have been doing the same to support the movement of boycott China and its products.

Talking to us in detail Shubhangi revealed what made her do that. Excerpts from the conversation:

What made you boycott Tik Tok?
COVID-19 is still a mystery which originated from their land. The virus which started from Wuhan didn't reach to Bejing, Tokyo or Shanghai  and stop their economies but managed to reach all over the world. The entire humanity is suffering because of it. And then of course, whatever is happening at the Indo-China border in Ladakh made me boycott it completely. As a responsible citizen I have to think about my country and if somebody is attacking my nation I will not accept it in anyway. Just because I am an actor I can't be associated to such a platform and think about making money.

You will not be doing anymore promotions also?
Recently, I had got a paid promotion and they had quoted me good money for promoting it on TikTok too but I told them I won't promote it on TikTok as I am quitting the platform. I did the promotion on other platforms but not on this App and I reduced my fees also.

But we also use many other China products in our day today life...
Yeah, so it's not just TikTok, I am boycotting all the products made in China. Like at my home also I have started using mud vessels, jute carpets. I will only promote Indian handicrafts and handlooms. I will also make my account on other Indian App if needed. I am totally on for vocal for local.

When did you delete the account?
I deleted my account this morning which had 1 million followers and I won't deny the fact that I have been very active on the platform. But ever since this whole pandemic started and I read how China is responsible for putting us to this situation, I decided to go off and trust me the feeling is amazing. Also, not many know this but in China they don't use WhatsApp, Instagram or YouTube. If they can restrict others app, why can't we?

Will you ask other fellow actors who are still on the platform to do the same?
I can't force someone but I will surely request my fellow actors to boycott it completely. As celebrities, when we make an account and post our videos, there are thousands who follow us. My character Angoori is also quite famous on the app. So, I would like to tell all those people too, who like to make videos on Angoori and Vibhuti, that if you want to, please do it on some other platform.

TikTok is in controversy for many other reasons these days...
This is an app which people are using and misusing at the same time like the recent controversial video of Faizal Siddiqui glorifying acid attacks. Then there have been cases when people have promoted religion in a wrong way, so it's not good for the society. Ultimately, social media platforms should be used to showcase talent and create awareness.

How do you feel it can be controlled?
I think Government should have a filter on such things. And norms should be made that one cant make and upload such content.
